history of privileges
The Privileges Card program was established in 1991, in the ACT. The program started with businesses agreeing to give great discounts to cardholders as a means to create greater awareness of, and increase traffic to, their business.
Types of businesses that are part of the program include restaurants, retail stores, places of interest, tourist attractions and everyday services such as dry-cleaning and plumbing.
The Privileges Card has also since become part of the big-saving benefits that ActewAGL and TransACT customers receive when they bundle energy and telecommunication services.
To date, over 19,600 long-term cardholders enjoy all the benefits that the Privileges Card provides. The program has received three tourism awards and were finalists in the 2005 Telstra Small Business awards.
